More Air

I wanted to know how the bike would sound with pod filters instead of the stock airbox.
It's a pretty easy job to get the stuff off and pods on (~€15ea)
The secondary air filter just crumbled in my hands after unscrewing it from the underneath of the airbox
1 sacrificial sponge and some engine oil later
Oh, and some tape to cover the now open end that was covered by the underside of the airbox
Best I could do without hose the correct diameter, oil that got sucked into the airbox now goes straight to ground
Just before popping the tank back on
does it sound any different? yes. There is definitely a sharper growl now and the noise from the engine coming through the tank is a lot louder but the most striking sound is at about 80% - 90% throttle, there is a distinctive flapping noise, I can only imagine it is the needles.
There is also a bit more farting than normal after the exhaust change, she needs her fuel air mixture adjusted properly, I do like the difference in noise but the airbox will probably go back on coming into the winter

Vision

I'd liked the look and functionality of the doubletake mirrors reviewed by Adventure Oz so splashed out.
came in a dodgy looking package

 but looked alright when out
uses ram mount
very versatile, good visibility, maneuverable at any time, only downside compared to stock mirrors is they tend to hold dirt a bit more after rain dries off, just needs an extra quick wipe now and again

Purchasing Protection III

Found some crash mushrooms specifically for Revere/NTV by m-sliders,
come with replacement engine mount bar, nuts, washers and mushrooms.
Bike up on centre stand, jacked up the engine to take the strain off and was a simple 10 minute job all in all.
Saw on their site they had them in white after ordering via ebay shop but black gives nice contrast .

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281911307315
€51.38 in total, probably better now with weak pound

Rear action

The original rear brake light was cracked and taped up a by previous owner, let's freshen it up.
A good chunk of time online searching, an ebay outlet and their online shop found

German crowd called http://www.whitelights.eu/ had an early 90's CBR rear brakelight replacement labeled 'NTV', picks seemed legit, old CBRs share parts with NTVs/Reveres, good to know...

 ooh shiney...

looks bang on, I went for the smokey black

single bulb connector connects straight into the existing bulb plug so no damaging the electrics to make it fit, nice one!

it is BRIGHTER! also included is a bright white license plate light

lots of LEDs beat the auld drab double bulb setup by far, nice product, I got a cheaper price on their ebay site than their main site, including p&p was €57.80, list price on site excluding p&p is €69.90 so shop around! code on the box is the exact product code WLL-06-L-S

Purchasing protection II

Handguards, tricky with the Revere's not round clip-ons, more like 2 separate bolt down on top of the forks so no handlebar area to attach solidly, I went for bar-end mounting...

manky old barend weight, needed elbow grease to budge it

too tight and the throttle gets sticky! obviously warping me auld handlebars

These are fine versus wind, rain and the occasional wing mirror clip,
the white looks well and the shield is a misty smokey colour, was a bit of a gamble but paid off

Farty Mc Farterson

She's been getting increasingly more windy to the extent it was starting to sound like a uzi driveby,
the culprit? loosened inlet manifold rubber clamp!
This bolt had most likely never been touched since the factory, the nut was rusted on so badly I ruined the bolt head. Thought about a dremel, then thought better when I realised sparks so close to a fuel leaking rubber tube was a bad idea, fileing it down or off seemed the safest but I'm too impatient for that...

2 drillbits later and new bolt and nut in place, and not as farty! but still farty, the quest continues!

slipping away

halfway home I notice loosing most of my control over the clutch so took it very easy the rest of the way home and began the investigation!
Fire her up in the drive, bit of the auld in out in out and POP! lever end goes flaccid...

the ball end came completely free, that would have been a long push home!
wemoto to the rescue, they're great for having the obvious odds and ends like cables and quick delivery,
a few days later...

something I was aware of previously, due to having a dizzy mare run across the road and deserve a revbomb, dropped the clutch and the cable engine end popped out, looks like the last owner had the incorrect cable installed, ball end doesn't even fit properly, thin shaft should sit into the hole securely and thicker ball end hold the cable from going through

with the correct cable in now we're all good in the hood!

Purchasing protection

A mini puig windshield, can definitely notice less buffeting in the chest area and feels more stable,
cheap as chips from louis.eu

vibrates a bit but is small and neat.
just in shot, I buried a ground anchor, ~40 yoyos of amazon,
heavy duty chain, lock and disklock

First things first

The mufflers baffle is rusted in

looks o.k.-ish

oh... massive hole torn through at the hanger, no wonder it sounded nice!

quick delivery, included 2 into 1 pipe & link pipe with gaskets, bolts, baffle

looking good! only issue is the baffle is bolted at the rear of the pipe so not as quick as being able to yank it out/pop it in the open end.
good price, great sound, especially engine breaking when over 3krpm imo,
she is a lot more farty during deceleration/engine breaking once below 2.5krpm,
I thought it was air leak so I siliconed up all the joins but still there,
needs further investigation into fuel/air mix but very happy so far!
